Abito in Los Angeles, California, Stati Uniti (aGli Angeli), ma mio bisnonno era di Montescaglioso. Imparo italiano ma se non è perfetto, perdonimi per favore. Mio bisnonno Rocco Motola era nato a Montescaglioso nell’anno 1893. Lui migrò in Connecticut e suo figlio, mio nonno George migrò in California, dove io sono nato. Desidero sapere se chiunque che abita a Montescaglioso è mio cugino per mio bisnonno Rocco.

Come arrivo a Montescaglioso senza macchina? Secondo Trenitalia, c’è un bus da Metaponto (la stazione di treno) a Montescaglioso, ma non so dove trovare più informazione. Qual è il migliore aeroporto per volare? Qual è la migliore rotta del aeroporto a Montescaglioso? La più veloce? La più panoramica?

roma fiumicino bari con l’aereo dato che scenderai a roma come scalo new york roma , li prederai voli nazionali scalo bari palese.
da bari palese predi il pulman ke ti porta a bari e infine prederai la linea locale F.A.L pulman x Matera.
da Matera predi per montescaglioso con la stessa linea F.A.L.
altri scali aereoportuali te li sconsiglio xke molto lontani e costosi x te x giungere da noi.
infine sempre da roma fiumicino puoi prendere il treno che ti porta a roma Tiburtina, li prendi il bus della Marozzi che ti portera a Matera da matera sempre con le F.a.l. a montescaglioso.
ti do un consiglio scegli bene le coincidenze e le ore perchè Le F.A.L. alle 23:00 chiudono.

Zodd’s suggestions are good, but I think you’d better rent a car in Bari, because you’ll see travelling by buses and trains is not that easy in Basilicata!
If you rent a car, you could go around and see the nicest places in the area, including Montescaglioso, of course…
When do you plan to come to Italy? August would be the ideal month because of San Rocco Feast (19-20 Aug). San Rocco is the patron saint of Montescaglioso, you might have heard of it.

Just like you, my family is from Montescaglioso and I live in the US. I live right outside NYC, I been to Montescaglioso many times, my gradmother lives there as well as many of my relatives. It is a beautiful place to see, with so much history and wonderful people.
My suggestion to get to Montescaglioso, is to rent a car in Bari, no trains or bus (that is a pain!) Trusty me I did that one year, and I will never do it again. You can rent a car in Bari, and then drive throught the beautiful country streets, the car ride to Montescagliso is not that long and there are many other places you can stop along the way. Hope you can make it Montescagliso, like Cinzia said August is the best month.

I’m Michele Motola from Montescaglioso and perhaps there are! I am reconstructing our traces and, speaking of with my grandfather, it seems that its father Raffaele Motola (my great-grandfather) had a brother named Rocco (your great-grandfather?!?!?)! The date of birth of your great-grandfather (1893) seems to confirm this my theory; My grandfather was born in 1915, so is probable that his father Raffaele and its uncle (your great-grandfather) Rocco are been born around to the 1890!
